Seeking $150,000,000 USD to develop an intermodal yard, the company, led by seasoned rail and shipping executives, will utilize their Class III short line railroad, the Oregon Independence Railroad that connects with the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma. The site consists of approximately 270 acres providing access to accommodate two unit trains at once and five miles of rail track in Phase 1. Market studies have found deficiencies in intermodal rail capabilities in Portland and the Willamette Valley to efficiently move international containers from the ports of SEATAC through the Oregon market. Market research identified shippers who will support annual agricultural exports of over 45,000 forty-foot containers during the first year of operations. Volumes are expected to increase over the next few years to 100,000 containers by utilizing additional export clients and import containers from existing BNSF national shipping customers. Amazon just completed a 4 million square foot fulfillment center adjacent to our site. The project has letters of intent with over 20 shippers, who export over 45,000 forty-foot containers (90,000 TEUs) a year, who wish to use an intermodal facility to connect by rail to the docks at the ports of Seattle and Tacoma.
