The client plans to build a state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Humberside in the UK which will process up to 300,000 tons of a combination of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Dry mixed recyclable (DMR) annually. This will recover a full range of recyclable materials, contributing the percentage of recycled material in the UK. The residual waste i.e. that which cannot be recycled will be converted to energy via an embedded 10 Mw Waste to Energy plant. The output will serve to make the site self-contained in terms of energy with excess exported to the grid. The brownfield site is close to the grid, feedstock suppliers and end users from the plant and will comprise a parcel of land with a fully purpose-built recycling facility. Planning permission will be approved for the site with a fully licensed permit granted for 300,000 tons to be processed and an additional permit granted for the incineration of waste on the site. Feedstock to be contracted from large corporates. EPC provider will have a Guarantee from one of the largest heavy engineering companies in the world with offtake of surplus energy from utility company linking into the grid. A full insurance wrap will be in place for the project.
